About artist
Rosario Calì in art RoCa, was born in Baghera in 1952, also city of the painter Renato Guttuso. He lives and works in Palermo.
Since he was a boy RoCa cultivates a great passion for drawing and painting, as well as an equally important interest in astronomy that leads him to affirm <<Art has no expressive boundaries>> because he is convinced of the essential link between different forms of expression, between motor sensations and emotions. Sicilian, Rosario Calì loves his land whose typical colors are already reflected in his first works. The attraction for flowers and light, on the other hand, describe above all the maturity of the Master, which life leads him to work other than as a painter - RoCa graduated in statistics and worked as a business consultant for many years, while never forgetting his childhood passion. Among his interests also sport, volleyball and music as a drummer. It is in 2016 that Rosario Calì returns to painting and photographic studies on light and flowers. Since that year he - inserted by some friends in artistic circuits - dedicates part of his time to art, bringing around his native land traveling exhibitions. Painter en plein air, he spends many hours in the open air trying to capture that fascinating horizon between the sky and the sea of his sunny island. It is not for nothing that he captivates the observer with the transparencies and veils of the atmosphere of Sicily. Tints and lights that RoCa carries within himself as a DNA inherited from the region where he came into the world and that, in his artistic works, offers as sub-atomic particles able to combine in infinite ways. The turning point dates back to 2018: Rosario Calì wants to combine the two loves of a lifetime, Art and Astronomical Sciences, so much so that to realize this desire he approaches the MAQ Group - Quantum Art Movement founded by the Milanese Roberto Denti. RoCa enters therefore in artistic collaboration with the above mentioned founder and with other international artists, being named "Artist permanent member of MAQ". Hence the production by RoCa based on the study of light (solar photons): it is the decomposed colors that give, through unique digital passages, results that lead Rosario Calì to be appreciated for his Dgt Quantum Art that wants to put the artist and the user on the same level. With the Quantum Art group RoCa participates in numerous exhibitions in Moscow but also in Cairo, Milan and Pavia. It is finally in 2020 that the MAQ becomes IAMAQ - International Academy of Quantum Arts whose aim is to put art and science at the foundation for a new world thanks to scientific rationality, related to artistic ingenuity. This is why IAMAQ, with Rosario Calì as director of the Department of Digital Art for Europe, intends to promote critical thinking and understanding of the complexity of the natural, social and economic balances that generate the diversification of the living system and society. At the same time as he has been assigned the prestigious position that sees him even taking care of contacts with Argentina and Russia, RoCa's pictorial style is influenced in the direction of painting mainly seascapes full of light, while focusing on experimental research in digital art. Digital art is that of the Sicilian, whose driving force is an eco-compatible and sustainable development, and it is no coincidence that RoCa explains to Roberto Denti how <<In the current context it is necessary to give more and more importance and strength to concepts such as a new systematic and evolutionary vision not only of nature, but also of art where quality and aesthetics must be based on scientific, ethical and social evolutionary paths. In this context of transformation and continuous evolution, the most sensitive and conceptually more open-minded souls are realizing that the values on which the current social organization is based are certainly not suitable to solve the continuous crises that are going through ... from financial and monetary to energy and health, not to mention armed conflicts everywhere. Many times artists, more or less consciously, turn their attention towards the idealization of a new or evolving world (...)>>.
