About artist
Patrizia Almonti was born in Rome (Italy) where she currently lives and works full-time as a renowned artist, after a long career as an administrative manager at the 'Sapienza' University of Rome. Patrizia has given free and fruitful expression to her emotions through painting ever since she discovered porcelain, defined as 'white gold', almost thirty years ago and was literally fascinated by it. From that encounter a deep and all-embracing passion for painting was born, which, by stimulating inspiration and aesthetic sensitivity, led her to master the various painting techniques and finally sublimate her artistic language on porcelain and in its colours. A great result that came after a long period of research as a self-taught artist (with trespasses in oil and acrylic painting on different supports, such as canvas, paper, metal, wood, glass and Plexiglas) or alongside recognised international masters of art.
A unique character and a strictly personal and eclectic approach identify hir works today, which are appreciated and easily recognisable on the international art scene. Rich and precise in the smallest details, they often privilege lines and curved surfaces where the signs of classical tradition merge and continuously regenerate into new creative forms and modern design. The well-known Italian critic Prof. Vittorio Sgarbi has expressed his opinion as follows: "porcelain which, alongside a strong propensity for revival in a modernising key (from the arabesques of Rococo, to the naturalistic graphisms of Art Nouveau to the squared elegance of Deco), also proposes motifs of different inspiration, such as, for example, works that recall well-known masterpieces of art history or evoke the exemplary stories of some of the greatest female artists in history".
The work is often created using mixed techniques and with the assembly of various materials, often becoming the pulsating core integrated into furniture or other interactive and usable structures. The artist also conveys her emotional message through the gestures and touch of the viewer, giving new value to that 'ability to do' that characterised the artists of our early Renaissance. Patrizia Almonti reflects the values of that period, putting great manual skill and intellectual value on an equal footing.
The artist has received many national and international artistic awards: in 2012 in Lyon (France) she won the 2éme Prix amateur - V Salon international de Peinture sur Porcelaine; in the same year she was awarded the 1st Prize - Coppa Fassi - Rome (Italy) and an Honourable Mention in Varese.
