About artist
Pietro Lembo was born in Battibaglia (SA) in 1963 where he currently lives and works.
Born into a family that has always indulged his passion, Lembo left for Milan for university studies where he graduated in 1988 and became a business consultant. He develops, over time, a double personality, rational in his work, irrational in the artistic field. In the Milanese period, he designs for some magazines. He returned to exhibit fifteen years ago. The same is told: "I don't know if I can call myself a contemporary surrealist, a component of contemporary Pop art. It is clear that my painting is influenced by these artistic currents...". The core of his artistic research is a certain cult of images: everyday life is nothing but a carousel of images that follow one another incessantly, the style is modern with contaminations from the tradition of Italian art. Moving images that flow from our subconscious: dreams, where the rules of perspective and logic are cancelled. In Pietro Lembo's paintings we find this somewhat oneiric trend where real situations are juxtaposed with a "nonsense" taste that however they hide from something deeper and hidden, according to a tight and unconventional rhythm and a good dose of irony. The everyday life associated with culture and artistic quotations creates a surreal atmosphere capable of conveying a subliminal message or simply a veiled criticism of contemporary society (Social Surrealism). "It's something spontaneous, I feel the need to communicate the images that strike me during the day, and then turned into stories in my paintings. - The colors are those of our tradition in a wide and brilliant range that ranges from earth to blue, all colors that refer to the southern Italian territory with its bright contradictions. Observing his works is like diving into a psychedelic world made up of colors, grotesque creatures and enigmatic characters, in which hidden messages must be sought among the shades and shadows of the figures represented. Critics are right to call it "a metabolizing machine of images". He has participated in many collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad seeing it on display between 2106 to date the cities of Salerno, Lecco, Rome, Florence, Milan, Venice.... He exhibited at the Biennale of the Tyrrhenian Sea, receiving the "Selezione Rosario Sprovieri" Award, in Prague at the International Art Biennale Prague, he then participated in the International Art Exhibition in Athens in December 2019 and in the same year at the Brera Site in Milan. The following year sees him Innsbruck at Global Art. In 2019 in Paris he receives the Picasso Prize. Also worth mentioning is the solo exhibition at Cava dei Tirreni in 2018 and in Rome in June 2019.
