This technique is the modern version of the ancient "Opus Sectile", well documented in the "History of Art" that is made until about the end of 300 AD. The realization "pictorial" is obtained with a careful selection of stone material (granite, marble, travertine, onyx, quartzite etc. ...) that, properly used, helps to create contrasts of color, shades and backgrounds, which give depth, lightness, brightness and movement to the work.
