40,5x50 Opus Nova, stone and glass. Private collection. 2015
40,50x50 Interpretation of the work dated 1889 by V.Van Gogh made with the Opus Nova technique in stone and glass. Private collection. 2015
This technique is the modern version of the ancient "Opus Sectile", well documented in the "History of Art" which takes place up to about the end of 300 AD The "pictorial" realization is obtained with a careful selection of the stone material (granite, marble, travertine, onyx, quartzite etc ...) which, when properly used, helps to create the contrasts of color, shades and backgrounds, which give depth, lightness, brightness and movement to the work.
