Why take part in “Arte in Provenza”?
A lot of people ask us that.
Why participate in a festival in Marseille, in June, for a week?
We gave the floor to the event organizers: there are two reasons, but there is another element to consider. Let’s see them together with the artistic director Giuseppe Quartieri and the director and gallery owner of Patty’s Art Gallery Patrizia Stefani. And while we’re at it, let’s get to know them better.
Why take part in Arte in Provenza
According to the writer and art theorist Giuseppe Quartieri, here as artistic director, two factors must be taken into account.
The first is the desire to discover unknown niches. Marseille, for example, although it is not the first city to come to mind for art, has an important cultural ferment, so as to lead to the revaluation, especially in recent years, the museum and other historical monuments.
Patty’s Art Gallery takes artists to a different place in Marseille, bringing art to a different nation and cultural context.
Here comes the second reason, which Giuseppe Quartieri explains very clearly: "I know perfectly how different the context is, I know what it is. It is a challenge to bring art to a different place, even if art unites all". And he emphasizes: "The goal remains the promotion of artists, together with the attempt to make it understood (not only by the French public) how art can be shaped in every place and in every form".
The wish he makes to the selected artists, however, is to return with a suitcase of enriching experiences.
The future after the exhibition
Patrizia Stefani, gallerist and director of Patty’s Art Gallery, reveals another reason not to miss "Art in Provence".
With the entrepreneurial spirit that distinguishes her, she already looks beyond the exhibition and points out the key points that gave rise to Patty’s Events and the event.
We then cross intents and values in a "map" that no longer remains only conceptual. As Patrizia Stefani explains, a catalogue will be made that will not remain an end in itself. This is because it will be put on sale online and also in subsequent exhibitions. In this way the artists, who are actually selected among many (he wants to emphasize), will always have the opportunity to be highlighted.
As proof of this desire, Patty’s Art Gallery puts into play collaborations with architects and design studios, where catalogues can be seen and viewed by customers. The idea behind Patty’s Events and therefore the exhibition "Art in Provence" is to collect all the past experiences to offer only the best.
A better that, as he mentioned earlier, starts from the past but also from a rigorous selection operation: "We had to say no to many artists in order to cultivate the rose to which we think to reserve the best place".
And Marseille lends itself very well as a launching pad: it is a sparkling city, where there is no lack of tourist influx. A turnout that can only be good for the artists and the exhibition.
