The Monkey King Sun Wu Kong is the most famous and beloved character of classical Chinese literature. Magician, monk, king, wise man and monkey-looking warrior, he is the protagonist of the novel "Journey to the West" (1590) based on folk tales dating back to the Tang dynasty (618-907).
