"Florence - The Peerless" is a painting on 6 mm glass support with dimensions 65x54 cm.Â
On the central part is fixed a porcelain plate of size 40x30 cm with pictorial composition in classical technique to third fire, with the addition of friezes made by milling engraving. A beautiful young Renaissance woman seems to cross the scene and to come out with a look lost in the void and full of sadness. In the background part of the facade of Santa Maria Novella, Alberti's masterpiece and one of the most important monuments of the Florentine Renaissance. On the upper and lower monochrome bands are engraved the marble friezes of the facade of the church. The work is completed by a frame, superimposed on the glass, composed of four elements of alcantara interspersed on the four corners by mosaic applications.
The work is inspired by the story of the beautiful Simonetta Vespucci, "The Peerless", muse of S. Botticelli and lover of Giuliano dei Medici, who died very young at the age of 23 years.
