FREE AS ART - Tamara, Frida, Artemisia
"Free as art" is a panel with dimensions 75x42 cm and steel rod foot. Overall height 50 cm.
The work is a tribute to three great artists: Tamara De Lempicka, Frida Kahlo and Artemisia Gentileschi. Three strong and free women, in life as in art, albeit in very different eras and historical contexts.
The panel is made by assembling wooden blocks of different height, width and depth, to obtain an irregular surface composed of twelve sections. On the face of each wooden block is fixed a strip of porcelain painted with a third fire using a classical technique. Between the various blocks, covering the visible parts of the faces orthogonal to the frontal plane, are inserted strips of mirror that give continuity of image and color to the entire work, reflecting the adjacent strip of painted porcelain. 2016
